Prof. Dr. Woochul Kim
Yonsei University, South Korea
Professor Woochul Kim received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2005. Since joining the School of Mechanical Engineering at Yonsei University in 2007, his research focuses on nanoscale thermal transport, with particular emphasis on thermoelectric materials and devices for energy conversion and thermal management.
Professor Kim is a member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and has been recognized among the world's top 2% of scientists since 2020, based on Scopus citation data. At Yonsei University, he has served as head of the school of mechanical engineering and associate dean for research in the college of engineering. He has also held positions as a consulting professor at LG Innotek and a visiting researcher at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT).
His honors include the Minister's Award from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (2024), the Best Engineering Professor Award at Yonsei University (2023), the Prime Minister's Award for Nanotechnology Research Innovation (2017), the Young Thermal Engineer Award from the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (KSME, 2013), the KSTP TPP Award (2015), and the KSTP Research Excellence Award (2013).
