Welcome to the International & European Conference on Thermoelectrics 2027!

We are delighted to welcome you to the 43rd International & 21st European Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT/ECT2027), to be held in the beautiful seaside town of Torremolinos, Spain, from June 6 to 10, 2027.

The International & European Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT/ECT) stands as the premier global forum for the thermoelectric community, bringing together scientists, engineers, industry leaders, and innovators working on energy conversion, thermal management, and advanced materials. The series began in 1976 in Arlington, Texas, establishing an enduring tradition of international knowledge exchange in a field that has evolved remarkably over the last several decades.

Since 1988, ICT/ECT has followed a tri‑continental rotation across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, reflecting the dynamism and global reach of thermoelectric research.

Historically, thermoelectrics experienced rapid development in the mid‑20th century—driven by semiconductor innovation, aerospace applications, and new theoretical advances—and more recently has seen a renaissance thanks to breakthroughs in high‑performance materials, nanostructured systems, and thin‑film technologies. These developments are well documented in the archives of the International Thermoelectric Society (link), highlighting thermoelectrics’ expanding relevance to modern energy challenges. Today, the ITS identifies ICT/ECT as the field’s central annual meeting, uniting a diverse community to discuss cutting‑edge achievements, emerging applications, and transformative ideas.

The 2027 edition of the International & European Conference on Thermoelectrics will be hosted for the first time in Spain, marking a new chapter in the conference’s long history. Spain, with its vibrant scientific community, strategic position in European energy research, and strong commitment to sustainable technologies, offers an ideal environment for fostering high‑level scientific exchange. Also, Spain offers an exceptional setting, combining a pleasant Mediterranean climate, world‑renowned cuisine, and vibrant cultural heritage—an environment that naturally fosters inspiration, collaboration, and innovation.

ICT/ECT2027 aims to bring together world‑leading researchers, innovative companies, and emerging scientific talent to share breakthroughs, discuss future directions, and strengthen collaborative networks. The program will feature renowned invited speakers, industry sessions, poster presentations, and the latest advancements spanning theory, materials, devices, and applications.  As thermoelectrics stands at one of the most exciting moments in its 200‑year history—approaching large‑scale deployment, enabling next‑generation energy solutions, and contributing to global carbon‑neutral goals—ICT/ECT2027 invites you to be part of this momentum.

We are honored to announce that the Conference Chair for ICT/ECT2027 will be Professor Marisol Martín, recipient of this year’s National Research Award. Her distinguished contributions to materials science and energy technologies embody the spirit of scientific excellence that ICT/ECT seeks to promote.

We look forward to welcoming the international thermoelectric community to Spain for an inspiring and impactful edition of ICT/ECT —an edition that will continue shaping the future of thermoelectric science and technology.
