Welcome reception – Sunday June 29th, 18.00-20.00, Palais du Grand Large
Join us for the welcome cocktail in the rotunda of the Palais du Grand Large, by the sea, to have a drink and taste the local cuisine.
Tours – Wednesday July 2nd, from 13.30 to 18.30
On our relaxing half-day, we organize four different tours to discover Saint-Malo and its surroundings. Please take note that while everyone will be able to participate to one of the events, each of these activities can welcome a limited number of participants only. Reservations will be made upon a “first come, first serve” principle. The choice is done by each participant upon registration to the conference: please tick the preferred option on the registration form. Thus, do not wait to register!
Option 1: Afternoon at the Mont Saint-Michel
On the map of Brittany, the Mont Saint-Michel, its village and its abbey are a must-see… and would be worth an entire day of visit if possible! For those who cannot stay much longer, we however propose a tour including the Saint-Malo/Mont Saint-Michel trip by bus (the single journey is approximately 1 hour) and the guided visit of both the village and the abbey (~3 hours). Be careful that you will have to climb about 350 steps to reach the top… (and that you will come back too late for the “cider and pancakes” party).
Option 2: Cruise in the bay of Saint-Malo
Discover the bay of Saint-Malo from the sea! Boarding will take place at the port of Saint-Malo, within walking distance from the Palais des Congrès. During this cruise, commented by a guide, you will discover one of the most beautiful bays in the world, including sightseeing of many renowned places: Baie du Prieuré, Dinard and its elegant English villas, Harbour and Cézembre islands, the Fort de la Conchée… and of course the battlements and towers of Saint-Malo, seen from the sea.
After the cruise, we will wait for you at the Maison du Corsaire for the “cider and pancakes” party!
Option 3: Unusual walk in the heart of Saint-Malo
Far from the common tourist presentations, the unusual visit of Saint-Malo will allow you to discover the old streets of the corsair city from a very lively, accessible angle, and through anecdotes: the origins of the city in the 12th century, its ramparts, the pourpris, the watchdogs, the English attacks and the underworld trade…
The 1h30 guided tour will be followed by the “cider and pancakes” party at the Maison du Corsaire.
Option 4: The Polaroïd Challenge
In small groups and equipped with a Polaroid camera, you will give an answer, in the form of a photo, to each of the 9 historical riddles of the city. But be careful! You will only be able to take 10 photos, including an unusual one of your team. By solving the riddles grouped together in your logbook, you will discover the hidden and historical places of Saint-Malo.
The winner team will be announced at the “cider and pancakes” party at the Maison du Corsaire, and will be awarded a (yet undetermined) prize.
