Davide Confalonieri is the Founder and CEO of Lab4Paws (a brand of Sellomics GmbH), a CRO and research tool provider pioneering preclinical veterinary science. He holds a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from the University of Pavia and an M.Sc. in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Milan, where he specialized in Immunobiotechnology, Tissue Engineering, and Molecular Medicine. Davide earned his Ph.D. in Tissue Engineering at the University of Würzburg, Germany. After his academic career, he transitioned into industry, serving as Head of Export & Distribution at Lonza Bioscience, where he supported the global development of new drugs and cell therapies, and later as VP of Sales & Projects at Biomex, a leading biospecimen provider. Building on this expertise, he founded Lab4Paws to address a critical gap: the lack of reliable biospecimens and research tools in veterinary R&D. Today, Lab4Paws collaborates with global pharma leaders helping accelerate innovation in both animal and human health while reducing reliance on animal testing.

Tim Lefever

Tim Lefever, MS, is a seasoned Director and expert in preclinical in vivo research with over 20 years of experience leading highly effective research teams, distinguished by a deep focus on cannabinoid pharmacology and regulatory compliance.

For nine years at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), he managed complex, federally funded grants and contracts (NIH, FDA, DEA) for research into the structure-activity relationships, abuse liability, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics of cannabinoids, frequently executing studies under GLP conditions. Tim spent three years at Canopy Growth, where he partnered with the Chief Medical Officer to develop and implement a product safety program, evaluating potential products for safety and efficacy using preclinical in vivo models.

An active contributor to the scientific community, Tim has been a member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) since 2013, co-hosted the Carolina Cannabinoid Collaborative meeting in 2017, currently serves as Treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Cannabinoid Research Collaborative, and has authored or co-authored numerous scientific manuscripts and conference presentations, underscoring his expert proficiency and leadership in the field.
