Health sciences: Inaugural symposium of CNRS (France) and Lithuanian scientists

The First CNRS (France) and Lithuanian joint health sciences symposium will take place on the 6th and 7th December 2022. This online event, during which CNRS researchers will interact with colleagues from the most important life sciences research centers of Lithuania, will provide an opportunity for scientists from both countries to present and share their research activities. The aim of this event is to establish contacts between Lithuanian and French scientists working in the field of health sciences, to encourage their cooperation in bilateral and multilateral European projects, as well as to introduce them to existing cooperation instruments and programs.

The symposium will focus on three research areas that are key priorities not only in Lithuania and France, but are also addressed in the EU research and innovation program Horizon Europe:
1. Cancer: from cellular to molecular mechanisms, microenvironment and therapies;
2. Neurodegenerative diseases: genes, aggregates nucleation and spreading, and therapies;
3. Infectious diseases: host-pathogen interactions

The event will conclude on the 7th of December with a panel discussion involving representatives of the institutions responsible for scientific development and scientific cooperation in both countries (institutions). They will present the opportunities for cooperation along with the existing instruments facilitating and enabling such cooperation.

At the symposium the Lithuanian delegation will be represented by scientists from six research centers in Lithuania: Vilnius University Life Sciences Centre, Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and its hospital – Kauno Klinikos, Centre for Innovative Medicine, National Cancer Institute, Health Sciences Faculty of Klaipėda University.

The symposium is organized by the Institute of Biological Science at the CNRS in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in France and the Research Council of Lithuania.

This conference will be held online and the registration is free but mandatory. The password to access the room will be sent only to those who register.
