The oceans are the crucible of life on earth. Indeed life emerged and diversified first in the oceans. However, a large part of the fascinating diversity of marine life remains to be described and understood since most of the species and their biology are still unknown.
Investigating biological mechanisms in marine species is essential for understanding life history and evolution as well as for the preservation of biodiversity. Investigating the diversity of the biological mechanisms existing in marine organisms will also allow identifying new molecular pathways and enzymes or products which might benefit the industry or medicine.
For these reasons, the Institute for Biological Sciences (INSB) at CNRS is launching a network of laboratories linking Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore and France, synergistically focusing their research efforts on challenges related to Marine Biology, in particular characterizing the broad biodiversity of marine organisms in the west Pacific at different scales, including genomics, evolution and development, biochemistry, function and ecology of the wide spectrum of living species in this wide geographical area.
As a first incentive action to gather the large community of scientific key players in this research field, The First Symposium of the West Pacific Marine Biology Network will be held through a videoconference on 27th and 28th of June 2022, renowned international experts in the field presenting their research.
The conference will start on June 27th at 9:00 AM (CEST, Central European Summer Time)

How does it work ?
This dashboard has been built with the aim of duplicating the same environment as an in-person conference, you will find below the usual conference areas: conference room and welcome desk.
Each participant will be able to join the area she/he is interested in by simply clicking on the corresponding button.
The welcome desk room allows you to talk to a staff member who is available to help you. If you encounter any difficulty in connecting to the welcome desk room then use the chat room which should appear on the bottom right corner of this page during the whole conference.
