2022 EMBO Workshop on PIWI Proteins and piRNAs

April 6-9, 2022

Virtual

About the Workshop

The piRNA pathway is an RNA-silencing pathway involving small non-coding RNAs and PIWI proteins. This pathway was discovered fifteen years ago as a defense mechanism against transposons. Since then, this field has experienced rapid progress. Recent studies have implicated piRNAs and PIWI proteins in a broad range of functions, including epigenetic and post-transcriptional gene regulation, genome rearrangements, germ cell development, and stem cell biology. The aim of this EMBO Workshop is to discuss the latest findings in all aspects of piRNA biology. We will address piRNA biogenesis; the role of piRNAs/PIWI proteins in genome defense; epigenetic regulation; gene regulation; genome rearrangements; germ cell development and fertility; stem cell biology; somatic functions; and cancers. We have invited the leading specialists in the field, who have expressed their enthusiasm for the workshop. This EMBO Workshop is part of a series and both previous workshops were big success. We expect this EMBO Workshop to have a strong impact on the piRNA field and beyond.

This EMBO Workshop was partly supported by The Company of Biologists and ShanghaiTech University.

How to access the conference rooms?

An intuitive conference dashboard has been designed to provide you with quick and easy access to all conference rooms.

We would like this edition to be interactive with AV discussions over the talks and full of opportunities to network. Providing you with a smooth meeting technically speaking is also one of our main priorities.

A welcome desk will be available every day with a staff member that you can talk with and each participant can ask for a technical test prior to the event by sending an email to EMBO-piRNA-workshop-2022@premc.org.
